We believe the 1769 King James Bible to be
God's words, perfectly preserved in the
English language inerrant in English.

With arms wide
open, we welcome you, to Colonial
Williamsburg

Sis. Carol
shown here is under her favorite tree on the grounds of Colonial
Williamsburg.

Here Sis. Carol leans
upon the criss-cross fence on the grounds. The paths between
buildings are made of crushed sea shells, so no grass grows through.

The
harpsichord Sis. Carol plays sounded just right.

Note the silk kite at left, which I suggested Sis. Carol go fly, but the
curators would not allow her. And note the wallpaper behind her
(and below) is made of leather, engraved and gilted.

When I visit Colonial Williamsburg I am reminded of what secular
greatness looks like, sounds like, and how it reads. And I am reminded
of the greatness for which we should strive for our tasks of seeing
souls saved and saints edified is even more significant because what we
do has eternal consequences.

If
Jesus already paid for my sins: WHY BE GOOD?
If I'm saved and going to heaven:

The simple WHY BE GOOD? question arises in
children when they think through having been

Christ, secured by His cross, constrained by
His love. This beautifully illustrated
book answers the deep theological questions
with practical understanding so that
children are able to comprehend. The
book also includes a song which will help

The
New Life In Christ Jesus is actually
a compilation of messages preached by Dr. C.
I. Scofield to his congregations at Dallas,
Texas and Northfield, Massachusetts.
These were published in the "Christian
Worker's Magazine" and then published in
book form by the Bible Institute and
Colportage Association in 1915. Dr.
Scofield of the Scofield Study Bible
subtitled these sermans "Messages of Joy and
Victory," now republished in a better type
font and newly annotated.

Colonial Williamsburg
portrays America when it was being formed in the minds of great men of
intellectual integrity. George Washington, Patrick Henry and
Thomas Jefferson all attended the church which is still standing exactly
as it was then, same pews, same pulpit. But did those great men in
this great church ever hear the gospel?

There are 88
buildings more than 300 years old and 120+ restored building on the 600+
acres of Colonial Williamsburg.

Thomas Jefferson (at left) wrote our Declaration of Independence which
was delivered to the courthouse (center) but a clause abolishing slavery
was stricken from the document, and the understanding was that the 'One
People" of the first sentence meant white people, and neither blacks nor
native Americans were included.

The country (not state) of Virginia included Ohio, W.Va, Tenn, Mich,
Wisc, Mich, Minn. and extended all the way to the Pacific Ocean.
And Williamsburg was the center of government and education.

Guns and swords served as wallpaper so that visitors, whether foreign
nations or domestic nations (Indians) would know that this new land was
so well armed that weapons could serve as decoration. The armory shown
at right was in the center of town, as far away as possible from slave
quarters or where Indians would be housed, so apparently there was a
Homeland Security department even then.

The gardens are of two types: ornamental and kitchen, both exquisite.
And we love the mockingbirds.

When we consider the greatness of our country, the greatness of our
founding fathers, the greatness of the documents they authored and the
greatness of the ideas they expressed, we do well to be reminded of
the greatness our Lord has assigned to us as His Ambassadors, His
ministers of reconciliation.

Forty-five people are buried inside the
church and dozens more in the
surrounding grounds. The most
prominent people were buried furthest
East so as to be first to see the Lord
return, just as every Lodge has it's
door facing East. How sad that
what they did gives evidence that they
did not understand we will meet the Lord
in the air, we are not Israel, awaiting
the Lord at the eastern gate.

Jefferson, Henry, Washington, Wythe,
Reynolds.. so many great men now long
gone but long remembered. Likely,
you and I will be soon forgotten, yet
our ministry of the gospel has eternal
consequence. What really matters, then,
is our service to our Lord, seeing souls
saved and saints edified, to His glory.

When I trusted the
payment Christ had made for my sins on the cross of Calvary and He saved
my soul from the hell I so richly deserved, (by grace through faith),
one of my early prayers involved expressing to God my willingness to
serve Him in any capacity, including doing things no one else would care
to.
"Be careful what
you pray for," the old saying says.
In the thirty plus
years since my salvation, I have learned that the "Calvary" which is so
precious to Christians everywhere is a word which appears only in the
King James Bible. After years of study and teaching about the Bible
version issue in more than 200 churches, I wrote The History Of Your
Bible: proving the King James to be God’s perfectly preserved words.
However, it is not
enough to have the right Bible, we must also have the Bible right, as in
rightly divided.
When I learned
Pauline mid-Acts dispensationalism it did not take long for me to also
learn that no one knew what I was talking about, and so I wrote The
Basics Of Mid-Acts Dispensationalism.
Because of the
fact that of the few people who have ever heard of dispensationalism,
most associate it with the Scofield Study Bible, I annotated several of
Scofield’s sermons to demonstrate the difference between Scofield’s Act
Two and mid-Acts dispensationalism in the book: New Life In Christ
Jesus.
While most
Christians describe themselves as "spirit filled" or "evangelical" or
"purpose driven," there I was describing myself as a "mid-Acts Pauline
dispensational King James Bible Believer." The common reaction was that
I must be a religious nut.
To demonstrate
that I am not from as wacky as they might suppose, I wrote more than 800
newspaper editorials, three of which won nationwide recognition in the
Amy Awards competition. Those columns had the same umbrella title as my
anthology of columns including one of the award winners: With A Bible
In My Hand.
Perhaps our most
important book was written by my wife Carol and is entitled Patty’s
Most Important Question which is the beautifully illustrated story
of a girl who asks people in her neighborhood that most important of all
questions: "How do I get to heaven?" and gets the right answer from her
Mom.
So there you have
it: Discerning The Times Publishing offering great books few Christians
understand. We stayed at the very nice Woodlands
Hotel right on the grounds of Colonial Williamsburg but there was no
microwave in the room, so Sis. Carol had to make do...

We have visited Colonial Williamsburg three times in the seven years
since Sis. Carol's crash, and our plan is to return in five years, at
which point will have been married 50 years.

We would hope that when we return, the man who portrays Jefferson will
still be there because he does an excellent job.

The actor playing Jefferson stays in character and time period, speaking
and answering questions accordingly.

Below you see me doing what I enjoy most about Colonial Williamsburg:
the opportunity to take time to think, to reflect and then, to press on.

While we were in Williamsburg the Corrigan family was so kind as to
drive up to visit with us and we very much enjoyed the fellowship. Here
you see me with Bro. Erin and son James.

Our round trip
was 1129 miles and we were 20+ hours in the car you see below.
Sis. Carol's name for our Jeep is Nelson but I have named it Thirsty, as
we got 16.7 mpg on the trip.
